SenseGlove nova 2 adds palm pressure to $5000 VR gloves

Gloves are the ultimate virtual reality input. The original Nova was priced at $5000 in January 2010 and Nova 2 is still the same price. $5000 may sound like a lot, but that’s actually cheaper than most other force feedback gloves.

Nova 2 adds palm pressure feedback.

Like the original, Nova 2 can provide up to 20 newtons resistance to your thumb, index finger, middle finger, and ring finger, equivalent to the weight of a 2kg brick on each finger. Nova’s thumb and index finger have vibrotactile actuators that simulate virtual textures. SenseGlove claims this enables more realistic simulation of drills, saws and grinders, hammers, pliers, and rehabilitation tools, and even lets users feel a handshake in collaborative VR applications.

The original Nova is already used for training.late 2021Nova gloves don’t have onboard positional tracking, but include mounts for HTC Vive trackers or Quest Touch controllers. The gloves can be connected to either a standalone headset or PC using Bluetooth. SenseGlove offers SDKs for Unity, Unreal, or native to integrate into enterprise applications to provide force feedback. Royal Netherlands Army also uses it for training equipment assembly engineers. Force feedback gloves are still a far-off dream in the consumer space, but companies such as SenseGlove and

created a market for force feedback gloves within the enterprise sector.
