ShapesXR, a design and prototyping platform for 3D and spatial experiences, is introducing a new animation feature tomorrow.
Originally launched in 2021, ShapesXR is a free to download platform that allows for real-time collaborative designs where you create in 3D and import different assets for creating interactive prototypes. The new animation feature is a frame-based system, which doesn’t need coding. It promises to allow creators to add dynamic interactions and transitions between scenes. ShapesXR also gains new interactive spaces, as well as a frame-based animation system. “Animation was in our DNA – we started with animation many years ago. It’s been our dream for ShapesXR to be fast, intuitive and accessible. Our goal was to enable rapid prototyping without losing the speed and creative freedom to explore new ideas,” stated Inga Petryaevskaya, CEO of ShapesXR in a prepared statement.
Notably, animation isn’t the only notable change included here. The major update promises improvements to ShapesXR’s Web Editor. You can now animate your prototypes even without using a mixed or VR headset. Your designs will also “seamlessly transition” to headsets if required. Using the Web Editor doesn’t require a download, either.
ShapesXR is free to download on the
and Meta Horizon Store, while Pico with expanded features are also available. The update will be available on July 8, 8am PST on both platforms.
