In his latest appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Apple Vision Pro is better than Quest 3 for watching movies.
Shortly after Apple Vision Pro released last year, Zuckerberg posted a three minute video in which he reviewed the headset and compared it to Quest 3.
In that video Zuckerberg stated that while he previously expected that Quest 3 would just offer better value than Vision Pro, after using it he now believes Quest 3 is outright “the better product, period”, because it’s “better for the vast majority of things that people use mixed reality for”, and claimed he was actually surprised to discover this.

Now, almost a year later, Zuckerberg admitted to Rogan that there is “one” use case Apple Vision Pro is better for: watching movies. Here’s a transcript of the section of the episode where this was discussed:

“They shipped something for $3500 that I think is worse than the thing that we shipped for $300 or $400. This was clearly not going to be a successful strategy. Their second and third versions will likely be better than the first. The Vision Pro was one of the biggest things they have tried recently. I’m not going to be too harsh on them, because I know that we often do things where the initial version wasn’t very good and that you should judge it by the second version. But, I’m sure the original version didn’t hit the mark. I’ve heard that it is great for watching movies. “

Well, the whole thing is it’s got a super sharp screen. If you don’t want to move around in VR and just want the sharpest display, the Vision Pro headset is better. To get a high-resolution screen they needed to add more computing power to run the screen. This meant that a larger battery was required. Now the device is very heavy. Now it is uncomfortable to wear. The screen they selected blurs the picture a little bit when you move your neck, like you do if playing games or interacting with the computer. for the reasons. Vision Pro displays are 3660×3200, which is significantly more than Quest 3’s 2064×2208 resolution. It’s possible that the higher resolution of Vision Pro displays is not the main reason for choosing it over Quest 3, especially when watching movies on flights. On visionOS, you can access movies that you already have on Disney+ and Apple TV+. You can also rent and buy movies through Apple TV.
