You can cast your Quest
view to your PC but it only works in widescreen, without recording, and does not support uncropped rectangles. Meta Quest Link now includes casting. Previously, these features required Meta Quest developer hub, which needed
, and enabled developer mode in your headset. Now, Meta has built casting into Meta Quest Link.
However, Meta Quest Link doesn’t yet seem to have to a web browser of Meta Quest Developer Hub, which forces the headset to render a wider field of view than what the wearer can see to enable uncropped widescreen capture.registering as a developerMeta has also changed Meta Quest Link’s logo from white to black, solving the problem of it having the exact same logo as Meta Quest Developer Hub.
The third Quest PC app has been retired altogether. Meta Quest Remote Desktop used to be required in order to see your PC’s screen on the Remote Display or Horizon Workrooms Quest app. However, its functionality is now merged with Meta Quest Link. Meta Quest Developer hub or an alternative such as SideQuest are still required to access your files or sideload APKs onto your headset. If you don’t need PC VR or remote desktop but only casting and Meta Quest Link, then you are good to go. This article has been updated with the new feature that is now available in the stable channel.
