Let me start by saying that I am not an avid fan of puzzles games. Open-ended games are my favorite, but they lose their charm when the focus is on a single solution. I’m not interested in a puzzle – instead, I would like to think as a detective. Hide the Corpse is one of the best puzzle games with a unique premise, and it’s only possible in virtual reality.
Developed by Realcast, who previously released
, Just Hoops appeared on Meta Quest headsets Hide the Corpse before receiving earlier this year in early access earlier this month. In the full version, the rankings system was changed and there were more levels. Your objective in each of the six levels you are playing is to hide the corpse. The game is a simple timer with no background information. You hide the corpse in various locations on the small map. It’s stressful to be short on time, but it can also be difficult to drag a body while searching for hiding places. It’s easily one of the most intense puzzle games I’ve played in years.a full launchPassing each level with the hope of an S-Rank, or at least an A-Rank, requires significant trial and error. You can hide your corpse in a number of places, but it will take some time to find the right spot, wash off fingerprints and conceal any evidence. The game’s name is a bit mature, but the silly visuals make it accessible. It’s also a game which can only
work
in VR. It’s possible to play a puzzle game using a mouse or controller, but it doesn’t perform as well. I wish it had hand tracking support to enhance the immersion. It would be great if it offered hand tracking to further the immersive experience.
