First Encounters is a mixed reality experience that you can access after setting up your Quest 3 headset. It’s not available with previous Meta headsets. The 3D scene-mesh that Quest 3 generates is used to create a ship which crashes through the ceiling, lands on the table or floor and allows you to shoot parts of the real wall. Then you have to fire waves of creatures invading your home until the timer expires. How many you shoot determines your score, and your score is logged to Quest’s leaderboard system.

First Encounters has been diligently tracking the leaderboard for First Encounters, because in the Meta Quest smartphone app it shows how many other “participants” there are, ie. how many people have completed Quest 3’s introduction.
