:the following statement“The Oculus Go was an important stepping stone in not only Oculus but VR as a whole. Thank you for joining us on this long journey and being early adopters of VR. All things come to an ending, so our attention has shifted in order to continue pushing the boundaries of VR. We hope that you will still have fun, excitement, and wonder with apps available for Oculus Go. And we look forward to seeing you again in the virtual realm! The Oculus Go was the first standalone VR headset to be launched in Western Europe. The fact that Go did not require a phone, PC, or console and was cordless made it a unique product on the market. Its $200 price tag also encouraged many to buy the headset. This meant that it was not able to run many VR experiences and games, which would later be the selling point for Oculus Quest. Facebook discontinued Oculus Go in just two years. They also stopped making headsets without positional tracking. Since December 2020 the Go Store has been frozen, with no new apps or updates able to be added, and in 2022 the headset stopped receiving even critical security updates and bugfixes.

Meta’s support for Go has long since ended, and the statement above seems to make clear it has no plans to fix the new critical issue with its aging store infrastructure.
