Narrative Shooter, The Phoenix Gene, Launches on Quest Next week

The Phoenix Gene is a narrative third person shooter, and the debut title from developer HEROmation. It will launch on Quest in one week. Players control a Firestorm phoenix in The Phoenix Gene, navigating a series increasingly dangerous environments. In a corrupted world, players guide their mythical hosts around obstacles such as collapsing walls and attacking enemies using a combination controller inputs and movement (seated or stood). The screen has no HUD. Players must rely solely on the visual cues provided by their birdie friend and their intuition to keep from losing. The Phoenix Gene was the first title from the studio HEROmation. It was founded by Michael Cawood & Julie Pifher Cawood. They have worked together on Skylanders Giants as well as Happy Feet. Grant Kirkhope is a BAFTA-nominated musician and programmer who has worked on Banjo Kazooie. In a press statement, The Phoenix Gene director Michael Cawood said that the game is similar to Starfox. You can fire in any direction, switch between realities and feel the action at a gut-level. Each mechanic was designed to support both gameplay and story.
