Max Mustard has sold more copies in two weeks on PlayStation VR2 than it did on Quest.
Following its recent launch on PlayStation VR2 two weeks ago, developer Toast Interactive offered some insights on its success with VR platformer Max Mustard. The studio called the PlayStation player support “overwhelming”, in a Reddit post. It confirmed that PS VR2 sold more in its first two weeks as compared to Quest. Max Mustard sold BETTER in the PSVR2
launch period than on Meta Quest, despite being only a small fraction of the overall market. This statistic is a bit different from what we normally see in the gaming industry. Though we hear of occasional outliers, like in some cases, Quest VR versions are more popular than other platforms due to the greater user base. .Amid Evil VRWhile it’s an approximate figure, Toast Interactive’s “approximately 2,000,000” is also the first time we’ve heard any specific PS VR2 headset sales numbers since reaching Superhot VR in May 2023. Sony is not sharing any further information. The Shortcut reports that the summer sale saw 1,000,000 headsets sold at one retailer. Quest 3S and Quest 3S are not included in the Eye of the Temple sale figures. Mark Zuckerberg has since spoken of “tens of millions” of Quest sales.
Today’s news also follows this week’s 600k units release for Max Mustard, which brings the colorful platforming game to PC VR. The visual improvements are similar to those of the PlayStation VR2 release over the original Quest launch, which was launched in March.
