Just a few weeks ago, the company showed the digital pets in Peridot Beyond for the
AR glasses as well. The company that brought you Pokemon Go confirmed to UploadVR today their team of developers is working quickly to develop ideas for expanding the Peridot Experience on Quest 3 Headsets in collaboration with Meta. The hope is to introduce playdates with other Dots as well as cosmetics and toys for the creature, though Niantic warns the add-on could go through a lot of changes still.
Niantic shared with UploadVR a clip from an early work-in-progress build of an interaction they’re exploring for the upcoming paid add-on. Video shows Dots wearing sunglasses from a mixed-reality machine. We’re still a ways off from the day when you could have the same virtual pet on all of your devices, from your smartphone to your AR headset and VR glasses. Niantic has decided to continue on this path, while also Spectacles the gameplay loops that work with the Dots for both Snap’s and Meta’s VR headsets.
