Iron Rebellion, the VR Mech-Shooter adds new abilities as its full release draws near

Iron Rebellion, a VR mech sim love letter to Titanfall and Hawken, receives its last major update before entering full release.

Previously released in early access three years ago, Iron Rebellion is one step closer to ending its eight-year development cycle. Black Beach Studio’s Version 0.939 marks its biggest early access update to date. Six customizable classes are introduced, including three brand-new ones. Below is the gameplay trailer. The Infiltrator was designed for stealth, and it can be cloaked to make you invisible. Breaker, a medium-sized mech that allows you to temporarily overclock abilities or call an airstrike. E-Pulse is a medium mech that comes equipped with an EMP to disable shields and stun enemy soldiers. Reinforcer, a large support unit which provides supplies as well as acting as a mobile deployment point. Finally, Guardian can use a large one-way energy shield for defensive play.

Deploying special abilities requires collecting a new raw material called ‘Mass,’ and every ability has a cost. The mech armor balance has also been improved. Other improvements include the ability to tweak augments via a new station, while other changes are centered around adjusting augments. Black Beach Studio states version 1.0 will focus on “clean up and polish,” and that’s all detailed in the latest progress log.

Iron Rebellion is available now in early access on the

platform and Meta Quest, while the full release is planned for Q4 2024. The full version will be released in Q4 2024. A PC flatscreen mode is also planned.
