Sweet Surrender: Its Past, Future Updates and More

Salmi Games was interviewed to learn more about Sweet Surrender’s free Update 11. Salmi Games, the studio behind Sweet Surrender, was interviewed to find out more about its upcoming free update 11.

It has been a long road for 2021’s virtual roguelike shooting game

and May’s 11001010 patch delivered significant improvements. Users of Sweet Surrender now enjoy new visual effects such as Bloom and HDR Lighting, while other changes include refining the horizontal recoil on guns. Yacine Salmi, CEO and founder of Salmi Games, told me things are far from over.Resurrectionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xf2SN0kNa4Quest 3Speaking at last week’s

conference, we began by discussing Sweet Surrender's development history. After releasing two

“The shooting mechanics we added, like taking the shotgun off a farmer turned out to be pretty fun. My dream was to make a Spelunky-inspired shooter. Salmi originally envisioned a world that was destructible. However, he realized later that this didn’t work. To target the Quest audience, the team used a low polygon style of art that was “not really done in VR until that time,” adopting a stylized method to work within Quest 1‘s limitations. Salmi Games was funded by Meta after pitching their idea. Salmi says you should focus on what VR can do, and that it is “difficult” to add VR technology onto a standard game. “

I thought that it would be a medium that’s only going to get better, with new challenges for designers. It’s really fun. We had access to dev kit and we tried to go all in. This market is growing and still very new. There are many opportunities. Although it’s difficult to earn a living from VR, I believe we have found our niche. Salmi’s point regarding sustainability led me to ask him what motivated Salmi, who has been releasing updates free for nearly three years now after the initial release of a VR title. Some of this comes from prototyping new projects.Ellipsis“We’ve been prototyping new projects trying to secure funding and there’s so much feedback from our players about friction they’ve encountered, things they’d like to see added to the game. We finally found the time this year to revisit those prototypes and take what we’ve learned. Sweet Surrender was designed for Quest 1, so it never took full advantage of

While a

version appears unlikely, the studio is looking at further updates based on player feedback. This includes the forthcoming ‘Quest 2‘, which is mainly focused on quality-of life changes, bug fixing, new “funny death” achievements, as well as further improvements. For example, smooth turning will be proportional to the amount you press the analog stick. The new

mode is aimed at the player. This was a hardcore Roguelike originally, but this mode allows you to die on a level and continue the game from there. This means that more players can see late-game content, if they wish. Sweet Surrender’s development will be largely completed once the final balancing update is complete. This will include upgrades, chips, and weapon improvements. Salmi is not ready to reveal specifics yet, but he says that the “fanbase of Sweet Surrender will be very happy.” Sweet Surrender can be played on both the PSVR 2 and Update 11.
