Ghosts of Tabor Talks PSVR, Quest 3 and Future Plans

Ghosts of Tabor has been a recent VR success story. Here’s the next step for this extraction FPS: system upgrades, PSVR 2 and Quest 3 updates. The Escape from Tarkov inspired game, which launched as early access in last year’s

, has reached significant milestones and is now

. This year’s already brought major updates like Ghosts of Tabor, moving to the main Quest Store, and a 500k players and $10 million revenue port, but there’s still plenty more in store. The Collector’s Awakeninghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r663xCHuaAAPicoDuring a recent event hosted by Combat Waffle and Beyond Frames Entertainment – where I participated in a

, I interviewed Scott Albright, Combat Waffle Studios' CEO, Creative Director, and founder. Albright later conducted an additional fireside chat, taking questions from other VR content creators and journalists.

Explaining how development began, Albright revealed Ghosts of Tabor was initially supposed to be Ghosts of Kyiv but the studio changed direction after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Albright is a Tarkov fan and DayZ enthusiast. He wondered why VR didn’t have anything like that. live-action Ghosts of Tabor experienceI spoke to several developers, who said, “It’s impossible,” and I told them that it had to be possible. We were hitting roadblocks and people saying that the Quest couldn’t handle the load, but that was obviously false. “I took the risk, assembled a team and we now have

. Albright said that the decision to work on Quest was made “on day one”. It’s just how things are. Quest has the largest player base. If you are a studio or developer who is thinking of making a VR title, then you must include Quest. You have to use Quest 3 even if you are an exclusive. Otherwise, your game won’t last a whole year. Ghosts of Tabor, given the number of VR shooters on the market today, was it ever a risky game? Albright thought it’d “do OK” but had no idea how popular it would become. Our team has grown to forty members, working on three different projects. And more ideas are still sitting in the drafts. It was a surprise to us that VR would want this type of shooter. “Nobody will be interested’ was the response we received when publishing, but I understand this hesitation because VR is a very niche market.” Albright said that while he stressed the importance of community feedback, a few things will not change any time soon. Two things he ruled out include a system for reviving downed teammates and markers above teammates to identify them across the map.

“That’s just not the kind of game we are,” Albright explained.[Ghosts of Tabor]”If you’re not in constant communication like I was when I was serving

, and your teammate comes around and you spray, you pay the consequences for that. The future will bring some changes. Jonas Degn, Combat Waffle CTO, has “completely rebuilt’ a new squad system that includes a voice chat and a refactorer. This update will be available on July 31, along with an updated mission system, and the Golden Luty reward for the server wipe.
