BlackForge Crafts a Path to PC VR & Quest Today

BlackForge, a VR weaponsmithing sim, reaches Quest and Steam today.

Developed by Mana Brigade and published by Fast Travel Games, BlackForge: A Smithing Adventure is described as a “wholesome and deceptively skillful” title that promises realistic interactions. It was previously featured in Steam Next Fest and offers a campaign-based story that asks you to create medieval weapons for the local heroes of the town as they fight a mysterious enemy. Here’s the new trailer.

To create these weapons and new tools, BlackForge involves sculpting and shaping metal, chopping wood, and welding materials together. The forge must be heated, the metal shaped before cooling, and you have to take care of your forge spirit. You can test weapons before they are finished on combat dummies and unlock new skills as you complete requests.

BlackForge has a meditative quality. Although it’s not one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played, the game has its own kind of serenity. You can make weapons for hunting monsters, but you are just as likely fixing broken ladders or staffs. It’s a nice break from the usual hustle and bustle and sheer violence that virtual reality often houses.BlackForge: A Smithing AdventureBlackForge: A Smithing Adventure arrives today on the
