Fitness Startup Vi Wants to Help You Build Muscle With Its XR Headset & Glo

The XR glove will allow you to log reps and keep track of barbell weights. With an increasing number of apps that essentially play on that formula, XR startup Vi hopes to change things up by letting you build muscle as well with the help of its upcoming XR glove and, eventually, its own standalone XR headset too.

Founded by serial VR fitness entrepreneur Cix Liv, (‘virtual eye’) announced late last week it’s building a glove you can wear while pumping iron, letting you automatically do things like log reps and keep track of barbell weights.https://twitter.com/cixliv/status/1758597118040981592The company isn’t speaking in-depth about the gloves for now, however Vi’s demo video above seems to suggest it’s still in early prototyping stages, with the render promising a sleeker device. There is some info to glean from the company’s Discord (

) though. Eugene Nadyrshin, product designer, says that the ostensibly a Cix Liv’s previous projects have mainly focused on XR Fitness, but the team was Vi represents a “pretty big pivot” away from the previous idea to create an AR app using Liv writes on the new startup Vi (formerly Twitter) that “We will ship the gloves, then headset With a community-funded campaign, you’ll own a part of the business. We will open up the camera on the headset as well.”

And what is the point of Liv says some people require the mental and physically separation from XR headsets such as Quest. This is why:

Hardware can be very difficult, but it also acts as You can see the time it takes to exercise a middle-aged person by giving them a Quest You’re not going to get into productivity apps if you sweat in your headset. It’s not happening. Liv says the company could “do this most with industrial redesign of existing hardware reference.” Just being hyper focused on specific use-cases, and do initial runs by 3D printing.”

There are indeed some recent reference designs the company can co-opt, such as the invite link, which Samsung may be using as a base to build its upcoming XR headset. It will be a big challenge to create a standalone headset that has its own app store and operating system
