The AR/VR Glasses edition: CES 2023

The Consumer Electronics Show, which is held annually in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8, has the world’s techies on their toes. CES, an annual tech event that is unparalleled, is a focal point for the latest and upcoming developments in the industry. Web3 is slowly but surely becoming the future. As a result, many technologies are gaining prominence, including blockchain, NFTs (nano-fibre technology), cryptocurrency, mixed/virtual reality, and augmented/virtual realities. 2023 is the year for AR/VR products and technology. 2021 has been dubbed as the cryptocurrency year. The Magic Leap 2 AR device received the first ever IEC 60601 Certification on Thursday. This was announced by Peggy Johnson, CEO of Magic Leap, established in 2010. The certification allows the glasses to be used in clinical settings and operating rooms as medical electrical equipment. The prototype costs $3200.

An Indian startup AjnaLens presented the AjnaXR Mixed Reality (MR), a headset, as part of the ongoing show. The headset has a 5k resolution and supports eye and hand tracking. It weighs only 390 grams and is equipped with 5k. AjnaXR’s final price is still to be determined. It is estimated to cost between Rs 1 lakh and more. The Taiwanese giant exhibited its MR/VR headset, Vive XR Elite which is priced at a comparatively-affordable $1,099 for pre-order. The device will be available in 2021, after Vite Flow is launched. It will also offer wireless PC streaming via Wi-Fi and can be connected to PC via USB-C as well. The device will be able to connect to PCs via USB-C and wirelessly stream PC content via Wi-Fi.
